Answer these questions to ensure a comprehensive and well-informed refresh of your nonprofit’s strategy.
- Look Inside:
- What were your key achievements and successes last year?What challenges did you face, and how did you address them?
- What do stakeholders perceive as your strengths and weaknesses?
- What suggestions do they have for improvement?
- Look Outside: Identify emerging trends and challenges
- What changes are happening in the nonprofit sector that may impact your organization?
- Are there new regulations or policies you need to be aware of?
- What emerging needs or issues are affecting your target population?
- Plan it:
- What specific strategies & actions will you implement to achieve your goals?
- What resources (financial, human, etc.) will be required for each strategy?
- How will you measure progress and success for each strategy?Align It:
- Are your goals consistent with your mission and long-term vision?
- Do your goals address the most pressing needs of your community?
- Are they achievable given your resources and capacity?
- Assign it:
- Who is responsible for implementing each strategy?
- Do you have the necessary staff, volunteers, resources, and partners to execute?
- How will you allocate your budget to support your strategic priorities?
- Refine it: Establish a monitoring and evaluation framework (P.E.A.K)
- What key performance indicators (KPIs) will you track to measure progress?
- How often will you review your progress toward goals?
- Are there opportunities to adapt your strategy based on ongoing evaluation and feedback?
